Iroquois County has a full-time opening for a Chief County Assessment Officer (CCAO). This position is responsible for administration of the County’s property tax assessment process pursuant to the Illinois Property Tax Code, equalizing assessments among the County’s township assessment districts, applying various tax exemptions, and serves as the Clerk of the Board of Review. This position is appointed by the Chairperson of the County Board with advice and consent of the County Board. Candidates for the CCAO position must be qualified in accordance with Section 3-5 of the Property Tax Code (35 ILCS 200/3-5). To be eligible for appointment to the Office of Chief County Assessment Officer, individuals must meet all three of the following qualifications: Have two years’ experience in the field of property sales, assessments, finance or appraisals; Pass the Chief County Assessment Officer examination conducted by the Department of Revenue; and Possess one of the following: Certified Illinois Assessing Office (CIAO) certificate from the Illinois Property Assessment Institute, plus any additional training required for additional compensation under 35 ILCS 200/4-10 or Certified Assessment Evaluator (CAE) certificate from the International Association of Assessing Officers, plus current continuing education requirements, as prescribed by the designating association or Member of the Appraisal Institute (MAI), Residential Member (RM), Senior Real Estate Analyst (SREA), Senior Real Property Analyst (SRPA), or Senior Residential Analyst (SRA) certificate from the Appraisal Institute or its predecessor organizations, plus current continuing education requirements as prescribed by the designating association. The starting salary for the position will be determined based upon the individual’s experience, plus a full County benefit package is included.
