Iroquois County is currently seeking dedicated residents to join the Iroquois County Zoning Board. As our community continues to change, this board plays a critical role in evaluating land-use requests and ensuring that developments align with our ordinances.

The Zoning Board of Appeals is a quasi-judicial body responsible for hearing appeals on decisions made by the Zoning Administrator, as well as reviewing requests for variances, rezoning request and conditional uses from the strict letter of the zoning law. Board members play a vital role in interpreting the legal framework of our community's land use policies, balancing individual property rights with the broader public good.

We are seeking candidates who possess the following qualifications:

  • Have a vested interest in the long-term character of our community
  • Have experience with policy, legal interpretation, or construction
  • Are willing to review site plans, variance requests, and legal notices
  • Can make fair, balanced decisions based on ordinances
  • Available to attend scheduled monthly meetings
  • Commitment to serving 4-year term
  • You are not currently an elected official
  • You are a legal resident of Iroquois County

The ZBA typically meets the last Tuesday of each month at 7pm but dependent upon applications this could vary. This position does provide a flat rate plus mileage to/from the Administration Center.

To apply, please submit a letter of interest to the Planning and Zoning Office. Applications may be emailed to [email protected] or mailed to:
