NEWS RELEASE



County Treasurer, Kurt Albers, has announced that the 2022 payable 2023 real estate tax statements have been mailed to the taxpayers of Iroquois County. The first installment is due August 18th, 2023 and the second installment is due September 18th, 2023. After the due dates a 1 ½ percent penalty must be added each month it remains unpaid, according to Illinois State Statutes. All mortgage companies are still required to pay all real estate tax bills by the designated due dates and ONLINE. Taxpayers must include their tax bill when paying.



The Treasurer’s Office is open 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday.



To avoid waiting in line, you may also pay by mail or at any bank in Iroquois County including Iroquois Federal, Commonwealth Credit Union, the First State Bank of Forrest in Onarga, etc.



Taxpayers paying in person at the Treasurer’s Office or at the local banks should bring the entire bill if they would like a receipt.&nbsp; Upon payment, the appropriate stub of the bill will be removed and then the date will be stamped on the back of the remaining part of the tax bill.&nbsp; If you mail your payment and wish to have a receipt, you must enclose the entire bill plus a self-addressed stamped envelope.



Remember that a drop box has been installed at the Administrative Center near the 911 Center so that taxpayers can drop off their payments during non-office hours.



Credit/Debit card payments and E-checks will be accepted with additional fees. To pay online please visit iroquoisil.devnetwedge.com. Information printed from this site should not be used in lieu of a tax bill.&nbsp;IF YOU USE THIS AS A TAX BILL, YOU MUST REMIT A $5.00 DUPLICATE BILL FEE, OR YOU WILL BE BILLED FOR THE FEE.



Members of any United States Armed Forces Reserve Unit can defer their real estate tax payment until 180 days after they return from active duty.&nbsp; This option is available if you are called to active duty for deployment outside the continental United States and if you are on active duty on the due date of any installment of taxes.

Employment Opportunity - County Engineer

The Iroquois County Community Mental Health 708 Board, referred as 708 board, is seeking applications from qualified entities/persons for the 2023 grant year. The 708 board has allocated $600,000 in the form of a grant(s) to provide services for Iroquois County residents.



Pursuant to MENTAL HEALTH AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES (405 ILCS 20/) Community Mental Health Act, the 708 board is focusing its grant allocations to provide mental health services, including services for persons with a developmental disability or substance use disorder.



There is no standard form for the application. Entities/persons wishing to provide services to Iroquois County residents need to submit a proposal to the 708 board. Proposals need to include dollar amount requested, a plan on targeted audience, how the funds will be used in providing services, proof of licensure, insurance, etc.&nbsp; The locations that will be used to provide services. Locations do not have to be within Iroquois County, so long as the funds are used for Iroquois County residents only. Iroquois County Schools are encouraged to apply to promote mental health awareness and services as well.

Hourly position under the general supervision of the County Engineer.



Duties:

<li>On call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergencies</li>



<li>Repair and maintain roadways with County equipment such as: cold mix trailer and shovel, spray patcher, and tandem axle dump truck with attachments</li>



<li>Operate mower on County ROW</li>



<li>Remove brush on County ROW</li>



<li>Install or replace traffic control signs</li>



<li>Remove snow with a dump truck using plow with wing</li>



<li>Maintain equipment as needed</li>



<li>Perform other work as required or assigned</li>
</ul>

COOLING CENTER LOCATIONS



WATSEKA, ILLINOIS &nbsp;&nbsp;The Iroquois County Emergency Management Agency announces cooling centers will be available for residents in Iroquois County, ensuring the most vulnerable of our residents are safe during the upcoming hot summer days. The Centers offer air conditioned relief during periods of extreme heat or when an Excessive Heat Advisory or Warning is issued by the National Weather Service.



In addition, residents are encouraged to ensure their senior relatives, friends and neighbors, and others whose health may be affected by extreme heat, are safe during high-temperature days. Churches and other organized groups are also encouraged to check-in on the well-being of their members.

Cissna Park: Village Hall



Gilman: City Hall



Milford: Community Center within City Hall



Watseka: Public Library and Walmart



Other locations may be made available as this office receives updated information.
