Employment Opportunity - Iroquois County Highway Department

IROQUOIS COUNTY HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT
MAINTENANCE WORKER I

Hourly position under the general supervision of the County Engineer. Starting wage is $24.16 per hour. This is a Union position and the hourly rate, overtime, time off, insurance and retirement are in accordance with the Union agreement.

Duties:

  • On call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergencies
  • Repair and maintain roadways with County equipment such as: cold mix trailer and shovel, spray patcher, and tandem axle dump truck with attachments
  • Operate mower on County ROW
  • Remove brush on County ROW
  • Install or replace traffic control signs
  • Remove snow with a dump truck using plow with wing
  • Maintain equipment as needed
  • Perform other work as required or assigned

Requirements:

  • Must have a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License
  • Must be able to pass a drug test
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • High School Diploma or GED
