TO COMPLY WITH 35ILCS 200/15-172 OF THE PROPERTY TAX CODE

The Chief County Assessment Office wishes to remind senior citizens that the deadline to file the 2024 Low-Income Senior Citizens Homestead Assessment Freeze, Department of Revenue form PTAX 340 is JULY 1, 2024. The application needs to be filed with the County Assessment Office. If you think you may qualify to file this application, but could not leave your home to obtain assistance in completing the necessary form, Volunteer Services has Outreach Staff that will come to your home to assist you.

What is a Household:
You, your spouse, and ALL other persons who use your residence as a principal dwelling place

Fulfill the State’s Requirement for Income Verification:
2023 Tax Return and/or additional documentation to verify the income used on the application

What is included in Household Income:
2023 Tax Return, Wages, Pensions/ Annuities/ IRA’s, Business Income, Farm Income, Capital Gains, Full Social Security income (including Medicare deductions).
