Engineering Technician
The Iroquois County Highway Department is accepting applications for the position of Engineering Technician I. The position includes design, construction and maintenance engineering for the roads and bridges of Iroquois County. The Engineering Technician works under the general direction of the County Engineer.
Job requirements: The following are mandatory for the position of Engineering Technician:
1. Completion of a two-year associates degree
2. Class D Vehicle Operators License
3. Ability to pass a drug test and background check
4. Ability to work well with others
Desired:
1. Associate in Applied Science or Associate in Engineering Science
2. Class B or CDL
Qualifications: The following are considered as comprehensive qualifications. Applicants need not have every qualification listed, but should generally possess a wide array of the qualifications and skills.
1. Experience with general construction techniques for roads and bridges
2. Project design and construction inspection/documentation
3. Planning and administration of projects funded by Motor Fuel Tax
4. Familiarity with Microsoft Office
5. Good verbal and written communication skills
6. Working knowledge of surveying equipment and material testing equipment
This is a Union position and the hourly rate, overtime, time off, insurance and retirement are in accordance with the Union agreement.
